Jim Baen's Universe Goes Live
Yesterday, the first issue of the new electronic magazine Jim Baen's Universe -- dedicated to adventure stories, edited by Eric Flint, and published by the force behind Baen Books -- launched, exactly on schedule.
A full table of contents is available on-line, so I won't re-type it here (I'm still fighting with MovableType's HTML formatting, or I'd just cut-and-paste it). But this issue brings you new stories from Alan Dean Foster, Gregory Benford, Charles Stross, John Barnes, Gene Wolfe and Julie Czerneda, along with the beginnings of serials from David Brin and John Ringo. Some people had thought the magazine would be all Baen authors, but clearly that's not the case -- and their definition of "adventure" is wide enough to include Wolfe, one of the most serious and literary writers in SFF today.
All in all, it looks like a great start, and I wish them lots of luck.
