Chris Moriarty on Spin Control

Also from our September magazine, here’s Chris Moriarty on Spin Control:

The more I write, the more I’ve come to admire the adventurous spirit of Science Fiction readers. Authors in other genres are constantly being told what their fans aren’t interested in or won’t read about, and sagely advised to “give the readers what they already know they want.” But the very essence of SF readers is that they want something new. New ideas. New stories. New ways of seeing the universe. Give them that, and they’ll follow you literally out of this world. It’s a privilege, and an honor . . . and, well, just plain fun to write for such intrepid readers. (Shsh! Don’t tell the mystery writers. It could start getting crowded in here!)
