Empirical data (Acta Ontologica, 35(2), pp. 367-9) confirm that most readers will not grasp a point delivered with less than a ten-pound sledge. The earlier recommendations for five pound mallets have generally been revised, to the distress of their manufacturers, although the gentlemen in question point out that their products are still useful for delicate work, and the effeminate.
