Awards from the International Conference on the Fantastic in the Arts
Several awards were handed out at the ICFA in Ft. Lauderdale this weekend:
- the Crawford Award, given to the writer of the best first fantasy book of the previous year, went to M. Rickert, whose requisite book was the collection Map of Dreams
- the Guest Scholar Award to Jane Donawerth
- the Dell Magazines Award, for excellence in SF and Fantasy writing by an undergraduate, to Natty Bokenkamp of Stanford University
- the Lord Ruthven Awards, for works about vampires, to Barbara Hambly's novel Renfield and Bruce McCleland's non-fiction book Slavers and Their Vampires
- the Graduate Student Paper Award, presumably for the best paper by a graduate student, to Richard Landon
- and the International Scholarship Award to Carlos Abraham of Argentina
